The purpose of this course is to provide lay people with a good foundation to begin their development as a preacher, providing enough grounding, perspective and practical experience to give anyone the confidence to preach sermons. Learners will find it difficult to take this course without previously studying the Core Theology and Scripture courses.

Laura & Phil Holck
The Holcks, Rev. Dr. Phil and Rev. Dr. Laura met at the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California, and obtained their Masters of Divinity. After serving separate Lutheran congregations in San Antonio, TX for 15 years, they moved to Calgary to serve as co-pastors of Lutheran Church of the Cross in 2013. Laura and Phil both received their doctorates in ministry from the ACTS D. Min. in Preaching Program in Chicago, IL. They also teach preaching at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon.
